What Will Covid-19 do to the Battery Life of Your Devices?

Stuck at home with nothing to do? You’re not alone. And while social distancing rules being enforced across the globe do allow for some walks and short ventures into the outside world, depending on your location, many of us are opting to spend much of our time in front of our various devices. With the increased use, however, we can’t help but wonder, what will happen to battery life?

One can only imagine that as our various devices get used more frequently and are charged more often, their lifespan will drastically decrease, and we’ll all be shopping for new devices as soon as the crisis is over. In the grander scheme of things, however, there’s the bigger question of what this will mean for battery life in general. Given the increased use of their devices, will consumers start demanding a longer battery lifespan for their devices? Will manufacturers be inspired to innovate the battery in ways we never even dreamed possible? Will wireless charging finally be a reality for all devices across all platforms? We’ll just have to wait and see, which is very much the case for a lot of aspects of everyday life affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. With any luck, however, despite all the difficulties, maybe some great technological innovations can come from the situation as well!
