Easy Ways to Up Your Online Security

Cyber security is of utmost importance in this day and age, so with that in mind, here are four easy ways to up your online security.

Close accounts you’re not using. Old accounts that haven’t been used for a while are easy targets for hackers, and the information left behind on those accounts can help them target the accounts you do use. The best possible practice would be to track down any online account you’re no longer using, delete any and all personal information, and shut down the account for good.

Don’t share too much online. Oftentimes hackers won’t even need your username or password to access your account, they can get in just as easily by impersonating you with a handful of pertinent info. Make sure to never share your address, phone number, or any financial information online to ensure nobody has they info they’d need to impersonate you.

Check your account activity. Checking your account activity on a weekly or monthly basis is a great way to ensure that you’re the only one using your account. If you do spot suspicious activity, report it right away.

Keep your software up to date. Developers will often release updates to patch potential security issues, so while it may seem like a hassle to constantly update every single one of your apps, it’s well worth the effort to prevent any security breaches.
